MTB Tour round the Karwendel
One of the most famous mountainbike trips in the Mittenwald area.

From Mittenwald you start at the mountainbiker`s parking area below the Karwendelbahn, ride beside the Isar river, cross the main street an bike to the tennis area in the Ried. The mtb tour leads you further to Scharnitz and into the "Karwendeltäler". After crossing the Isar again, turn leftwards and after some hundred meters to the right following the sign "Karwendelhaus" and take the first short climb of the day. The ride climbs gently to the Larchetalm resort. But wait for lunch until you have reached the Karwendelhaus after a comfortable ride to Angeralm and a steeper finish over about 300 meters of altitude over gravelled serpentines, which you may see at the first picture.
Fresh and well-fed we check the upward traction of our tyres on a short uphill to Hochalmsattel and bike about 5 km down to Kleiner Ahornboden. If you are still ok at the Ahornboden, you may take the trip to the Falkenhütte. Turn to the right at the von-Barth monument and for 6 km in distance and 450 m more in altitude. Your will get a picturesque view to Karwendel's greatest climbing walls.
From the Ahornboden we take the mountainbike track down the Johannistal for the next 10 kilometers and reach the street at Hinterriß. We transit the village on the road and leaf asphalt at the sign to the Fereinalm, which will be our last opportunity for a Radlerbier at a mountain resort for the day. But dont drink to much - the mtb ride down to mittenwald will be fast.
